When I first got into beer I jumped into it head on hops, hops, and more hops. My first experience with a sour beer was Dogfish Heads “Festina Peche” a German-style Berliner Weissbier even tough it wasn’t to sour it was none the less a sour beer, and man was I not a huge fan but realized it was a refreshing beer and enjoyed the fact I enjoyed it in the hot sun. So with the fact I was 50/50 with sours I ended up buying another one this time Russian River Brewing Co.’s “Supplication” a American wild ale aged in Pinot Noir barrels and man I fell in love it the rest was history from their I was addicted to sours.
Today’s beer is in Belgian Flemish red/brown ale aged in oak barrels the true sour of sours from Rodenbach it’s their 2008 vintage batch 96 beer coming in at 7% abv. When you want sours Rodenbach is the true Belgian Flemish red with their regular, grand cru, and vintage series.
